Releasing stuck emotions – EFT

There is a small difference between a thought and an emotion. Both are neurological aggregations found in our brain, gut, and heart. But an emotional complex is denser than a thought. Hence emotions are nothing but a juicier version of a thought. A thought can trigger an emotion and vice versa. In a situation caught up between the two, emotions always win. You don’t think and do. You feel and do.

Just like emotions, feelings are emotions multiplied by more than 1000 times. Hence, to feel means that it lasts longer than emotions. There are 90+ emotions that have been classified. They all fall under the umbrella of just 2 basic emotions: Love and Fear. These are the only main types. All other emotions like peace, joy, ecstasy, etc. are gradations of love, and emotions like anger, hatred, shame, etc. are gradations of fear. Know the difference between emotions and feelings. Joy is an emotion; Happiness is a feeling.

As far as the location of emotions is concerned, the amygdala and parts of the pre-frontal cortex are involved. Some even say that the gut is also responsible. Feelings are mostly centered around the heart and the brain’s hypothalamus. Emotions are energy. Hence if they are not channeled properly, they can get stuck in our body. To clear our emotions there are 3 techniques viz. NLP, EFT, PSTEC.

I have tried all three, but I found EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) to be the simplest and most effective. The idea in EFT is to tap different points on our head and body till they are released. Please see the diagram that I have attached: Tap on these points where most likely your emotions are stuck. It may be one or more than one place.

Use your index finger and middle finger to tap on the points. (at least 30 seconds each) When you tap, if you feel a tingling / heavy sensation, most likely that’s where the emotion is stuck. Tap more. You will feel relaxed. For example, my emotions used to be stuck in the points below my eyes.

While tapping, you can choose to say a mantra or affirmations. EFT complements your meditation practice.

Give it a go and let me know if it has helped you.

God Bless!
